Update: Unexpected error from external database driver
Here is an update from Microsoft to the problems with Jet OLEDB after the October WSUS Updates.
As stated in the article “Unexpected error from external database driver (1). (Microsoft JET Database Engine)” after applying October security updates. there has been an update by the first days of November. It was cancelled very soon and the new update should be available by the next WSUS-Tuesday at 14th of November.
I believe, that in the meantime most of the people facing this errors have changed their code to use ACE.OLEDB.12.0 instead. It is still interesting how the changes will be implemented in the Microsoft tools like SSMS and the SSIS-wizard and at what time this changes will arrive at the customers.
Jet.OLEDB is deprecated since a long time and no one should implement this in any new project. With ACE.OLEDB.12.0 you can still read/write "Microsoft Excel 97-2003" but it is much more clever to switch to an actual version in your company and in the communication with your customers.
