ISLANDIA, N.Y., June 18, 2007 – CA (NYSE: CA) today announced the latest release of its CA ERwin Data Modeler (DM)-the first data modeling tool to be integrated with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Database Professionals. CA ERwin DM r7.2 is a key component of CA ERwin Modeling Suite—an integrated set of technologies that enables best practices for relational database design and modeling.
As Microsoft SQL Server has emerged as a leading enterprise-class database platform, it has given rise to a new generation of database professionals who need enterprise-class database design and management tools. CA ERwin Modeling Suite r7.2 uniquely facilitates a managed, model-based approach for business analysis and requirements gathering, as well as the design and implementation of high quality database and data warehouse applications. It also enables database professionals using SQL Server to visually design and generate managed objects for use in the Microsoft Visual Studio development environment.
"Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Database Professionals enables database professionals who use SQL Server to deliver business solutions that fulfill the constantly evolving requirements of enterprise customers," said Matt Nunn, group product manager for Visual Studio Team System at Microsoft Corp. CA ERwin DM r7.2 also delivers full native support of the relational syntax in SQL Server 2005, including the round-trip engineering of objects directly with the database catalog and/or via script. The new release also adds support for MySQL, DB2 9 and Sybase IQ.
One of CA's partners in delivering the ERwin Data Modeler to market is Ingram Micro Inc., the world's largest technology distributor and a leading technology sales, marketing and logistics company.
"At Ingram Micro, we are constantly looking for new high-value technologies that address a real market need," said Jodi Honore, vice president, vendor management, Ingram Micro Inc.
